YOUR WAY

This song is about being in a negative situation and longing to leave. Its about the bravery and courage one must gather to find that one moment where you reach out with your will and change your surroundings or circumstances for the better. Like swimming, theres that fraction of a second when you first hit the water and your body feels like you’ve just been hit by lightning and then it passes and you just go aaaaaaaaahhhh. Many people recognise this feeling through relationships, work, friendships, addiction, all manner of things. The path of least resistance is to remain static, not force change.

Change involves risk and fear of the unknown, but at the end of the day we live, then we die. So what? We all agonise so much leading up to a crystallising moment where that last straw goes on the camels back and we finally act. This principle can be found not only in human behaviour but also in nature. Like a volcano, it builds in pressure then explodes. Managing this process can often take two forms. On the one hand are people who avoid the negative circumstances in the first place, pretty rare, those people may also manage their entrys and exits to minimise disruption and pain to those around them. Then there are those who just don’t really give a crap about the pain and disruption to others, and bulldozer their way in and out of scenes in life. It looks on the surface like two forms of the same strength, but its not. One is strength and one is calloussness.

Weakness on the other hand, is never finding that impetus to act, or developing a sense of when something is not right before the trap is sprung. However once beyond that intial shock and the sometimes violent adjustment period that often comes with change, you have that feeling, aaaaaaah. Unless you’ve jumped out of the frying pan into the fire of course. I try to stick to an ancient creed 'an it harm none do what thou wilt'. When you think about this it an extremely powerful statement with wide ranging implications for interpersonal relationships and personal well being. Extrapolated to the collective, it becomes a powerful law to organize society by.

Your way
Lyrics
Gotta get my ass outta here
I hardly feel human anymore
Where there's a will there's a way
Every dog has his day
And I'm pissin on sacred ground
I'm sick of all your good advice
You can stick it where the sun don’t shine
When the joke gets tired where there's smoke there's fire
Hey bucket man I paid my dues

It doesn’t matter, someday you'll die
Let your ash be scattered,
Where the sun don’t shine
It's your way, your way, your way out

I set myself up for a fall
I wrote the writing on the wall
Why must we bleed for things that we can never have.

It doesn’t matter, someday you'll die
Let your ash be scattered,
Where the sun don’t shine
It's your way, your way, your way out

It doesn’t matter
Let your ash be scattered.
